Today I’m writing about something that’s become increasingly close to my heart over the past few months -  solo dates . You might have heard the term floating around on social media, or maybe you’ve already been enjoying them without realising there was even a name for it. However, I want to dive a little deeper into what solo dates are, why they’re worth doing, and how they've become an important part of my own self-love journey. So, what are solo dates? Are you between the ages of 16 and 23? Do you live in Northern Ireland? Do you regularly use public transport? If your answer was 'yes' to those questions, then you're going to want to read this! In this blog post, I'm chatting all about the Translink Y-Link Scheme - a complete game-changer for students and young adults who want to save some money on public transport!

So, what is the Y-Link Scheme?

The Y-Link Card is an amazing little discount card provided by Translink NI. It gives young people aged 16-23 access to up to 50% off standard fares on both bus and rail journeys across Northern Ireland. Whether you're travelling daily to uni, commuting to a job, or travelling to visit family - this card can make a noticeable difference to your bank balance!

One of the best parts? It's designed with students and young adults in mind. With the rising cost of living, every bit of saving helps. When you're relying on public transport to get to lectures, shifts, or back home for a well-deserved break, having the Y-Link card in your pocket really pays off.

To give you a clearer picture, here are a couple of examples of how much you can save: A standard Adult Goldline Day Return ticket costs £17.50. But, with a Y-Link card, you can simply get two Y-Link Goldline Single tickets for just £11. That's a daily saving of £6.50, and if you're commuting regularly, it quickly adds up!



A regular Adult Rail 1 Day ticket is priced at £13.10. However, with a Y-Link you only pay £8.80 for the same ticket. That's £4.30 saved per day. Over a 5-day period, that's £21.50 saved, and over a month? £129 stays in your pocket!
